Add a touch of class with our precast pier caps
If you’re considering building or commissioning a new boundary wall or property frontage, what better way to add a touch of style and class to your project than by finishing off your gateway pillars with our beautiful precast stone pier caps.
Using the finest crushed portland stone, we mould our piercaps in a variety of colours . A perennial favorite is always the Portland range which includes Natural (off-white), Portland Grey (light grey), Buff (bath/yellow) and standard grey.
It’s not only in colour that we give our customers a choice – we also manufacture our pier caps in various shapes and sizes.
Whilst piercaps were once only available in the classic flat-top shape, you can now also choose from pyramid-shaped ones and of course, the ever-popular range with spheres fitted on top.
All these styles are available in a wide range of sizes to suit your design of gatepost, driveway or garden walls.
Stone Pier Caps
What are pier caps?
Pier caps are the square shaped stones that are used to cap piers or gate pillars. The piers might be of brick, stone or stucco. The pier cap can be a cap on its own, or it can be used as a base for a ball or sphere finial, a ‘pineapple’ or another feature to mount on.
Pier caps are used to protect the pier from becoming weather damaged, as well as to be visually pleasing to the eye.
Our pier caps are normally manufactured to be wider than the pier they fit. This is to ensure that rainwater is shed away from the pier rather than running down it and causing dampness. The amount of extra width depends on the individual design, but approximately 50mm on all four sides at the bottom edge is usual. The overall width might exceed this, depending on the particular design.
Our most popular pier caps have a flat top which enables them to be built up by adding smaller pier caps or a finial on top to suit your requirments. Many customers also buy our matching coping stones to give a uniform look to their project.
Our pier caps (also often referred to as pillar caps) and coping stones make an excellent alternative to quarried stone to finish off a garden wall or gateway building project.
With over twenty standard pier cap sizes to choose from, in a range of styles and colours, we’re sure to have a pier cap to suit your project but if you don’t see what you want, please contact us to discuss making custom sizes.
